Within the ancient stone embrace of the Collège des Bernardins, where centuries of prayer still linger in the air, Rahul Mishra unveiled "Becoming Love" during Paris Haute Couture Week in July 2025—a collection that transcended the boundaries of fashion to become a sacred journey, where silk whispered of the soul and embroidery charted the terrain of longing.
Drawing from the mystic depths of Sufism's seven stages of love—attraction, infatuation, surrender, reverence, devotion, obsession, and death—each garment became a verse in an intimate psalm, a meditation stitched in thread where beauty was not ornament but revelation.
The procession began in reverent silence, as whites and soft golds spilled across the stones like dawn breaking over desire, heart motifs beating gently against bodices while pearl veils floated like whispered confessions barely touching skin. Colour arrived as emotion made visible: molten gold burned with infatuation's fever, ruby red pulsed with devotion's intensity, soft ivory softened into reverence's tender gaze, before the final descent into deep black—not an ending but an opening, where warmth surrendered to shadow and bloom dissolved into the infinite.
